Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin and Skoler, Abbott & Presser Attorney Husband and Wife Team to Ride in Two-Day Pan-Mass Challenge for Cancer Research

This year will be the tenth year in which Gary Fentin, Partner at Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., has ridden in the grueling Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) to benefit cancer research. This time, however, Fentin will be riding a tandem bike with his wife, attorney Susan G. Fentin of Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C., when the ride kicks off on August 4, 2012, for a two-day, 165-mile course from Wellesley to Bourne and back.

Gary is an avid cyclist, and this ride is one way for him to channel his passion to help others. Susan, however, is not a cyclist, or an athlete, but they committed to do this arduous ride together to support their friends, family members, and colleagues who struggle with this devastating illness, rather than sit by the sidelines and hope that someone else makes the effort necessary to fund a cure.

The PMC draws 5,500 cyclists from 36 states and eight countries, and raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. Since 1980, it has raised $338 million, becoming the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s single largest contributor. PMC’s goal this year is to raise $36 million and to bring its 33-year fundraising total to more than $374 million.

The 2012 event will take place on August 4th and 5th. The Fentins will be riding the Wellesley-Bourne-Wellesley routel eash is required to raise $3,500.
