Attorney Carol Cioe Klyman, a shareholder of Shatz, Schwartz and Fentin, P.C., was recently selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2017 in the field of Elder Law. A Westhampton resident, Attorney Klyman practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning, special needs planning, estate settlement, guardianships, trust and estates litigation, and MassHealth appeals.
Attorney Klyman has been named to The Best Lawyers in America list since 2007 – this marking her 10th consecutive year and the Super Lawyers and Top Women Attorneys lists since 2005. Among her professional affiliations, she is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Council, a member of the national and Massachusetts chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and an editorial board member of the NAELA Journal, the law journal of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys where she serves as the co-executive editor. She has written extensively on tax issues for the premier elder law treatise, “Estate Planning for the Aging and Incapacitated Client in Massachusetts” and is a co-editor for the 2016 “Massachusetts Elder Law Sourcebook and Citator,” a resource for attorneys throughout Massachusetts. Klyman is also active in the community serving as treasurer and board member of the Hilltown Land Trust.
Klyman lectures locally and nationally to professional and civic groups. She served as an adjunct professor of elder law at the Western New England University School of Law master of laws degree program. She graduated magna cum laude from Western New England University School of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island.
